Selling exhibition marking this gallery's first anniversary in
London's St James's. Highlights include The Young Girl
by Alexei Alexeiwitsch Harlamoff (1840 - 1925) whose patrons included
Tsar Alexander II, two Tsarinas and Sergei and Pavel Tretyakov;
and We came home as the sun was going down and it was raining
by the English naive painter Helen Bradley (1900 - 1925).

Calder Jewelry. Celebrated principally for his mobiles, Alexander
Calder (1898 - 1976) also produced during his lifetime many, many
examples of jewellery in brass, silver and gold, often embellished
with found objects. This exhibition is the first in any museum
to concentrate on these highly personal items many made as gifts
for his family and friends.

Magnificence
of the Tsars. As part of an exchange
between the V&A and the Moscow Kremlin Museums, this display
is devoted to "the rare and lavishly decorated costumes and
uniforms worn by the Tsars and court officials of Imperial Russia."
Most have never been exhibited before.

Holy Inspiration.
Religion and spirituality in modern art.
Organized in collaboration with the Stedelijk Museum, this exhibition
aims to reflect the long and continuing concern with religious
experience among modern artists. It includes works by among others
Mondrian, Chagall, Schnabel, Rothko, Bacon and Gilbert & George,
rarely associated in an increasingly secular, spiritually diminished,
western society.
